UPDATE AUG. 20: The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is offering its employees an incentive to stick around until the property has been rebranded. The Hard Rock sent the following statement about their plans:

“Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas’ 1,850 employees are being enticed to stay with us in our “Stick Around And Come Back” program. Those employees still with the property when it closes to the public in early February 2020 will be paid a retention bonus in a lump sum, up to 10 weeks of payment. While many employees are sure to find work elsewhere, those who want to work in the new Virgin Hotels Las Vegas property will not be required to interview again for their previously held jobs. The employees (all hourly gaming, non-gaming, union, and non-union employees) will all be recalled. The ownership group and operating partners are committed to paying them to return and we want them to return. To “Keep the Band Together” during the property closure and renovations we will be offering employees the opportunity to participate in wellness workshops, lifelong learning classes, and social mixers. Between now and February of next year, it’s business as usual and full steam ahead. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has made the decision to temporarily close in February 2020.

The property was sold in February 2018 to Virgin Hotels.
